Minecraft 26.3 Snapshot 7: Concrete Stairs New Explorer Maps and More

Minecraft 26.3-snapshot-7 drops the final feature set for the 26.3 cycle with concrete stairs and slabs in all 16 colors plus a complete overhaul of explorer maps found in abandoned camps.

Concrete Stairs and Slabs Finally Arrive

Builders have been asking for this since concrete was added. The snapshot adds stairs and slabs for every concrete color - 16 full sets. No more mixing quartz stairs with gray concrete and hoping the lighting hides the seam. My pick here is the black concrete set for modern builds but the terracotta colors work surprisingly well for desert themes.

Each color gets its own stair and slab variant crafted the usual way. Six concrete blocks in a stair pattern yields four stairs. Three in a row gives six slabs. Standard recipes nothing fancy.

Abandoned Camps Get Explorer Maps

Abandoned camps now generate with explorer maps pointing to other camps in eight specific biomes: Bamboo Jungle Cherry Grove Birch Forest Dappled Forest Flower Forest Pale Garden Swamp and Windswept Forest. The maps also cover seven major structures - Ancient City Trial Chambers Mineshaft Desert Pyramid Jungle Pyramid Warm Ocean Ruins and Woodland Mansion.

This changes how you explore early game. Find one camp grab its maps and you've a trail to follow instead of wandering blindly. The Pale Garden maps feel especially relevant given that biome's recent addition.

Explorer Maps Become Proper Items

Big technical change here. Explorer maps are no longer renamed filled maps. Each type - Ocean Explorer Map Woodland Explorer Map Trial Explorer Map and so on - is now a distinct item with its own icon. The changelog lists 14 separate map types including village maps for each variant and the new Ancient City and Mineshaft maps.

Your map wall just got organized. No more hovering over identical items to check which mansion they point to.

Quality of Life Tweaks

Cushions no longer suppress vibrations. Place break or interact with them and the warden hears you. Fair change honestly - they were too good at silencing everything. Abandoned camp loot tables shifted too. Barrels got updated and chests now give gunpowder instead of firework rockets. Look, player map icons now always face your actual direction instead of snapping to cardinal points.

Realms Expands Server Regions

Realms adds future support for Canada Mexico South Africa and Arizona USA regions. Not live yet but the infrastructure is there. If you run a Realm for friends across continents this matters.

Worth Testing Before 26.3 Release

This feels like the feature-complete snapshot. Concrete stairs alone justify the download for builders. The map overhaul helps explorers. If you host a server our Whitelist Creator makes access control painless. And for custom map markers the Text Generator handles formatted names better than vanilla signs.
