BiomeInfo is a lightweight client-side mod designed to display the name of the current biome as text on your Minecraft screen. It provides immediate, unobtrusive feedback about your location without requiring you to open the debug screen. The mod appears automatically when you enter a new biome and can be tailored to suit your preferences through an accessible configuration system.
Functionality
Upon entering a new biome, BiomeInfo renders the biome name as text on screen for a default duration of 1.5 seconds before fading out. This behavior is fully configurable - you can adjust the display time to any value, set it to remain visible constantly, or disable it entirely via the mod’s settings. The text renders in the top-left corner by default but can be repositioned anywhere on screen using either custom coordinates or built-in position presets for quick setup.
Customization Options
The mod offers extensive visual customization. You can change the text color by entering a hexadecimal value (e.g., ffffff for white), adjust the scale to make the text larger or smaller, enable or disable text shadow (enabled by default), and set horizontal alignment (left, center, right). These options allow smooth integration with various resource packs and HUD layouts.
Compatibility and Usage
BiomeInfo is compatible with other biome-modifying mods such as Biomes o' Plenty, ensuring accurate biome names even in modded environments. If the F3 debug screen is open, the biome info is suppressed by default to avoid visual clutter, though this behavior can be toggled in the configuration. As a client-side only mod, BiomeInfo performs no functions when installed on a server and will not affect gameplay or network traffic in multiplayer environments.\n
Availability and Licensing
BiomeInfo is released under the MIT License and is available for Minecraft versions 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3. It supports the Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge mod loaders. Here's the thing, the mod can be freely used in modpacks, though users should verify server rules before enabling it on public servers, as some may restrict client-side HUD modifications.
Notes
This mod does not alter game mechanics, world generation, or server behavior. Its sole purpose is to enhance player awareness of biome transitions through a simple, configurable on-screen display. All features are client-side only and pose no risk to world integrity or multiplayer compatibility when used appropriately.
