What Condensed Creative Does
Condensed Creative is a small library that lets you group items that look alike into a single slot. When you click the slot, it expands to show every item that belongs inside. The idea is to keep the creative tab tidy and save space.
Who It Helps
If you build a mod that adds many variants of a block or item - think different wood types, dyes, or armor sets - this mod can keep those variants from cluttering the creative inventory. It works on the client side only, so it doesn’t affect server performance.
Supported Platforms
The mod runs on three popular loaders:
- Fabric
- NeoForge
- Forge
It supports three Minecraft releases:
- 1.21.1
- 1.21
- 1.20.4
These are the only versions the mod declares it works with.
How It Works
Each condensed slot is a container that holds a list of items. The list is hidden until you click the slot. A mod provides a simple API for other mods to create these containers and register them with the creative tab. This visual effect is similar to the Bedrock edition’s condensed items.
Installation Notes
Because it's a library, you add it as a dependency in your own mod’s build file. The mod itself does not add any items or blocks; it only supplies the mechanics for condensing.
Support
If you run into problems or have questions, the maintainers welcome help on the Wisp Forest Discord. Look, they're responsive and aim to fix bugs quickly.
Caveats
The mod is client-side only. It doesn't run on servers, so server-side logic that relies on the condensed items won't work automatically. Also, the mod doesn't claim compatibility with any other loaders or older Minecraft versions.
Summary
Condensed Creative is a lightweight, client-side library that lets mod creators pack similar items into a single expandable slot, keeping creative tabs clean on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge for Minecraft 1.20.4, 1.21 and 1.21.1.
