What Curios API does
Curios API is an accessory and equipment library created by TheIllusiveC4. And it gives mod creators a clean framework for attaching extra gear slots to the player inventory. Players can also adjust these slots to fit their preferences.
Out of the box, Curios API doesn't add functional gear to your survival worlds. It only includes an inventory interface and two creative menu items intended as reference examples for creators. You won't see empty slots sitting around when you install it alone. Slots appear only when other installed mods request them.
Core capabilities
New equipment slots register through a central library. When two separate mods request the same slot type, Curios API merges them under matching identifiers. This keeps duplicate slots off your screen. Unique identifiers remain available whenever a mod requires a specialized slot type.
Slots offer deep customization. Mod developers can assign custom background textures, adjust slot dimensions, or hide slots by default. Code hooks allow other mods to lock, unlock, grant, or remove slots during gameplay.
Items link to specific equipment slots through standard Minecraft data tags. Mod authors categorize gear by placing JSON files in the data/curios/tags folder. Here's the thing, a single item can fit into multiple slot categories, and users or pack authors can override these tag assignments entirely.
Curios API also works directly with standard Minecraft item rules. Items equipped in curio slots interact properly with Mending repair mechanics and curse enchantments.
Interface and accessibility
You can view all active accessory slots inside a single screen connected to your main inventory. Pressing the g key opens this interface by default. It gathers your extra gear into one unified view so you don't have to open separate menus for each mod, though developers can still build standalone interfaces if they prefer.

Curios API is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later. It requires installation on both the client side and the server side.
