Flan is a server-sided claiming mod that helps protect builds in multiplayer servers from other players. It operates entirely on the server side, allowing vanilla clients to connect without installing the mod. The mod uses a golden hoe as the default tool to create and manage claims, though this can be changed in the configuration.
Creating and Managing Claims
To create a claim, players right-click with the hoe on two blocks to set opposite corners. A success message confirms the claim, or an error explains why it failed. Claims can also be created using the /flan addClaim command. Look, resizing a claim is done by right-clicking on one corner of a claim and then on another block to set the new corner.
Claim Properties and Behavior
Claims extend 10 blocks downward from the selection point and go all the way up to the build limit. If a player starts building below the claim, it automatically extends downward to allow mining underneath. This system prevents hitting a fixed depth wall when digging, unlike some other claiming mods.
Advanced Claim Types
Flan supports subclaims, which are claims nested inside other claims. Each subclaim can have its own permission settings, allowing fine-grained control over who can do what in smaller areas. Starting from version 1.11.0, Flan also supports 3D claims. Unlike standard claims that expand vertically to the build limit, 3D claims have fixed dimensions in all three axes and don't auto-adjust.
Admin claims are another type, created only by players with operator permissions. These claims bypass certain restrictions that apply to regular player claims but function similarly otherwise. Only admins can modify admin claims.
Permission Management
Permission management is handled through an in-game GUI opened by standing in a claim and typing /flan menu. Here, players can set global permissions for the claim, assign permissions to player groups, and configure individual player rights. The GUI also provides access to additional features like claim settings and management tools.
Compatibility and Requirements
Flan requires a server-side installation only. It is compatible with Fabric and NeoForge mod loaders. The mod supports Minecraft versions 1.21.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3. No client-side installation is needed for players to use it.
