What the addon does
Leave Decay is an addon created by quillphen for Minecraft. It provides bounded leaf cleanup support for worlds that run TreeVeinMiner or VeinMiner. When those projects remove tree logs, the addon steps in so you do not have to break floating leaves by hand. On Modrinth, the project is categorized under game mechanics, technology, and utility and quality of life.
How leaf removal works
Unsupported natural leaves are cleaned through a small independent queue after TreeVeinMiner or VeinMiner removes the logs. The system doesn't process the entire canopy all at once in a single tick. Because mining speed never expands into a one-tick canopy scan, breaking logs does not turn your harvesting speed into an instant canopy scan. The independent queue manages the leaf cleanup routine on its own.
Setup and verification
You need a compatible base pack installed in your world before this addon can function. Start by picking a matching TreeVeinMiner or VeinMiner base pack built for the exact Minecraft version that you are running on your game instance.
Put the downloaded LeaveDecay zip file directly beside the base pack inside your world/datapacks folder. After placing the file into that directory, run the /reload command in your world. You can verify that the pack is active by running the status command in game. The command confirms a working setup when it returns Base connected: 1.
Server requirements and loader support
Leave Decay is required on the server side of your game setup, while client installation is optional. Here's the thing, if you run a dedicated multiplayer server, players who join your game don't need to install the addon locally on their computers.
The project supports multiple mod loaders and formats, including Fabric, Forge, Neoforge, Quilt, and standard Datapack environments. The project is distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
