What the mod adds to fishing Fishing 101 expands the vanilla fishing system with 27 new fish types across 62 new items. Each fish has its own rarity, food values, and status effects when eaten. Most can be cooked, and a few grant special effects like the Ascension effect from Divine Catfish. The mod also introduces new food ingredients, two armor trims, and two guide books - Fisherman's Journal and Johnny's Cook Book - that explain the system in-game. You obtain the books as Hero of the Village gifts. ## How fish spawn and behave Fish aren't new entities. They appear as item drops from fishing, and their availability depends on biome, time of day, and weather conditions. This means you'll catch different species in a river at dawn versus an ocean during a thunderstorm. Rarity tiers make some fish common and others a genuine hunt. Recent updates adjusted loot tables so luminous fish are less punishing to find, and modded fish now work with dolphins, cats, ocelots, and wolves for taming, breeding, and healing. ## Compatibility and installation notes The mod runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.10, 1.21.9, 1.21.8, 1.21.7, and 1.21.4. It is optional on both client and server, so you can install it on a server without requiring every player to have it, or run it client-side with a generated resource pack. The resource pack is created with the Polymer library using the command /polymer generate-packs. The project is licensed under MIT and includes Ukrainian translation thanks to StarmanMine142.
