IndyPets - Independent Pets

Independent pet behavior IndyPets introduces a third state for tamed animals: independent. Instead of sitting or following the player, an independent pet wanders around a home position - the exact spot where it was last set to independent - without teleporting to the owner or straying too far. Right-click cycles through sit, follow, and independent. Shift-right-click toggles directly between follow and independent. If those clicks conflict with other mods or modded pets, a dedicated Interact hotkey (H by default) and extensive compatibility options in the config provide alternatives. ## Whistle and goat horn controls Press J to whistle or unwhistle every nearby pet you own, rallying or dismissing the whole group at once. Goat horns can also act as whistles; each horn type is configured individually with four modes: whistle only, unwhistle only, toggle (alternates between the two), or whistle while standing and unwhistle while sneaking. The /indypets horn <horn_type> <setting> command manages those bindings, and /indypets horn alone prints the current configuration. ## Server-side and client-side features The mod functions with only the server installed. Vanilla clients can use /indypets whistle, /indypets unwhistle, and /indypets config get or set to adjust basic settings and view help descriptions. Installing the mod on the client adds whistle and interact hotkeys, whistle sound effects, translated status messages, and the full configuration screen through Cloth Config and Mod Menu. ## Requirements and version support IndyPets runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.16 and above. The Modrinth record lists discrete supported versions: 1.21.2, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, 26.3. Fabric API is required. The client-side config screen additionally requires Cloth Config and Mod Menu. The project is the official continuation of lizin5ths's Independent Pets (originally CC0, relicensed MIT since version 1.4.0). Whistle sound files are CC0 clips from BigSoundBank and Freesound.
