What this mod does Sodium Shadowy Path Blocks puts back the subtle shading you see in vanilla when a non-full block sits directly against a full one. Dirt paths are the classic example: they get a darker face where they touch a solid block. Sodium treats that shading as a lighting bug and removes it. But this mod re-adds a vanilla-like version of that shading for every non-fluid block with inset faces, not just paths. The effect is adjustable. You can tune the strength of the added shading, and there's a separate toggle called Use vanilla lighting for path blocks. When that toggle is on, path blocks match vanilla exactly. When it's off, the shading is vanilla-like but calculated through Sodium's own smooth-lighting code, so it'll not be pixel-perfect. ## Who it's for If you run Sodium for performance but miss the depth that vanilla's smooth lighting gives to paths, farmland, soul sand, and similar blocks, this mod fills that gap. It is a client-side only mod, so you can install it on your own game without touching the server. ## Compatibility and requirements The mod runs on Neoforge, Fabric, and Quilt. Supported Minecraft versions include 26.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.3, 1.21.2, 1.21.1, 1.21, 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, 26.2, and 1.21.11. Sodium itself is required. If you enable Use vanilla lighting for path blocks on a version before 4.x.x, you also need Indium and Fabric API (or Quilted Fabric API on Quilt). The server side is unsupported, so do not put it on a dedicated server. ## License Released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
