Our summary

What this project does

Blur Perfected is a client-side mod that enhances the vanilla Minecraft GUI blur effect. It is a fork of the Blur+ mod, created to fix animation calculation bugs and simplify the underlying logic. The mod requires the client to run but does not need to be installed on the server. It supports both Fabric and NeoForge mod loaders and is compatible with Minecraft versions 1.21.5 through 1.21.11, including 1.21.6, 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.10, and 1.21.11. The mod doesn't support older or newer versions outside this list. Once installed, Blur Perfected applies a blur effect to the background of open GUIs, such as the inventory screen, making the game world behind them less distracting. It fixes several issues present in the original Blur+ mod. These include bugs caused by rapid GUI updates, such as when holding the E key to spam-open the inventory, which previously caused animation glitches. It also fixes problems where animation frames were skipped or the fade-in/fade-out animation reset unexpectedly. Another fix ensures the blur effect is fully cleared when all GUIs are closed, preventing persistent blur on screen. Beyond bug fixes, the mod adds new features. Users can now select different animation curves for the background gradient and blur animations independently, allowing for more personalized visual effects. It also introduces separate toggle switches for blur on the book edit/view/sign screen, the command block edit screen, and the sign edit screen. These screens were not blurred at all in the original Blur+ mod version 5.3.2. The mod includes an optimization that skips drawing the background gradient or blur animations when the effect wouldn't be noticeable, reducing unnecessary rendering work. Blur Perfected is suited for players who find the default Minecraft blur too static or distracting and want more control over how GUIs visually integrate with the game world. It is purely a visual enhancement with no impact on gameplay mechanics. The mod is distributed under the MIT License and is archived on Modrinth, though the author notes that development continues through updates to the Blur+ mod, which now includes all changes from Blur Perfected starting with version 6.
