Chat Heads

What it does Chat Heads puts a small player head beside every chat message so you can see who's talking at a glance. The heads pull from the standard skin service, so they work on any server that sends normal chat packets. It is purely visual and runs entirely on your client. ## Who it helps If you play on busy servers - survival communities, minigame hubs, or roleplay worlds - the heads make it faster to follow conversations without scanning names. Streamers and video creators also get a cleaner on-screen chat for viewers. ## Configuration The mod works out of the box with sensible defaults. For finer control you need Cloth Config API (and Mod Menu on Fabric). The settings screen lets you adjust head size, vertical offset, and which sender-detection mode to use. ## Sender detection modes Two modes are available. The default tries to match the message sender using the server's player list. On some servers that method fails, so a heuristic-only mode falls back to pattern matching. The heuristic can occasionally attach the wrong head, so treat it as a backup rather than a primary option. ## Compatibility Supported loaders are Fabric, Neoforge, and Forge. Verified Minecraft versions are 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1, and the 26.x snapshot series (26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, 26.3). The mod requires the client side and has no server-side component. ## Known issues Newer OptiFine builds (around 1.20.1 and later) are incompatible. The author recommends Sodium, Iris, and the rest of the modern rendering stack instead. ## License Distributed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.
