Our summary

What this project does

What collective does

Collective is a shared library mod created by Serilum. It holds common code and shared functions for Serilum's other mods.

If you run mods by Serilum, you'll need this library so those mods can work. Here's the thing, it handles routine tasks across multiple projects. And this includes managing configuration files in the config directory and generating in-game configuration screens. It also provides shared networking code. In addition, it includes an event system to replace and resupply entities in the world. When dependent entity spawn mods swap out mobs, Collective can transfer their held items and worn armor.

The mod manages translation files for dependent projects. But it can download non-English translation files automatically when your game client runs in another language. For multiplayer servers, it includes options to send translation resource packs to connecting players who don't have the library installed on their client.

Configuration and features

Collective includes several settings in its configuration file. You can adjust how it checks for updates, manages mob drops, downloads translations, and sets block check delays.

Key configurable behaviors include:

  • Update checker. It includes an optional async update checker that logs a notice to the console when an update exists for a dependent mod. This is on by default.
  • Entity item transfer. When dependent entity spawn mods replace entities, Collective can transfer held items and worn armor to the new mob.
  • Drop calculation loops. You can set the loop count used to collect procedural mob drops. The default count is 100, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 500.
  • Block check delay. You can modify the delay for block checks around entities in milliseconds. The default delay is 30000 ms, with an allowed range from 0 to 3600000 ms.
  • Translations and resource packs. Server owners can choose whether to push a translation resource pack to connecting players without Collective. The server language defaults to en_us, and item name translation modes can be set to auto, server, or client.

Mod loader and environment support

Collective runs on both the client side and the server side. Both sides are optional in the project record.

The mod supports Fabric, Forge, Neoforge, and Quilt mod loaders. Supported Minecraft versions are 26.3, 26.2, 1.21.1, 1.21, and 1.20.1.
