Colorful Hearts

What it does Colorful Hearts is a client-side mod that replaces the vanilla heart renderer. Instead of adding new rows whenever health or absorption exceeds ten hearts, it keeps a single row and uses color to distinguish each tier. You supply a list of hex #RRGGBB values in the config file and the mod applies them in order. The mod also draws half-heart bordered backgrounds so a lone half heart of absorption doesn't show a black void on its right side. ## Configuration The color list lives in a plain config file. Each entry is a standard six-digit hex code. The first color covers the first row of health, the second color the second row, and so on. Absorption normally renders a row above health, but a toggle lets you merge absorption into the same row where it follows the same color progression. ## Mod compatibility Tested integrations include AppleSkin for food-health preview, Raised for correct heart positioning, Farmer's Delight for the comfort effect overlay, The Undergarden for the virulence effect overlay, Overflowing Bars for numerical heart-row display (requires disabling Overflowing Bars' own heart layer), and Eidolon:Repraised for chilled effect and ethereal health rendering. Scaling Health is a known incompatibility; both mods touch the same vanilla code and will crash or behave oddly if run together. The author advises disabling any custom heart rendering in Scaling Health if you must use them together, but offers no support for resulting issues. ## Technical details The mod runs on Fabric and NeoForge. Supported Minecraft versions are 26.2, 1.21.11, 1.21.4, and 26.1.2. It requires the client and doesn't support servers. Resource-pack authors should note that hearts are drawn in three layers - base icon, a tiny dot, and shading - each with specific alpha values that differ between normal and hardcore modes.
