Our summary

What this project does

What It Does

ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village (CTOV) adds new village and pillager outpost variants to Minecraft, each shaped to fit the terrain and biome it generates in. The mod includes 23 village variants and 14 pillager outpost variants in total.

In current versions, these are separate structures placed alongside vanilla villages rather than edits to them. CTOV only modifies existing vanilla village structures directly on older Minecraft versions; on newer versions covered here, its villages and outposts generate as their own distinct structures.

Platform and Versions

CTOV is listed under the Adventure and World Generation categories on Modrinth. It supports the Neoforge and Fabric mod loaders, with builds available for Minecraft 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, and 1.21.1.

The mod is server side required and client side unsupported, so it needs to run on the server rather than being installed by players.

Adding It To An Existing World

CTOV is safe to add to a world you're already playing on. The one limit: new village and outpost structures only generate in chunks that haven't been loaded yet, so already-explored terrain won't change.

Finding The Structures

Once installed, the new structures can be located with the /locate command, searching for CTOV's structure names.

Loot

Most of CTOV's structures use vanilla loot tables, which keeps them compatible with other loot-related mods. The mod also adds some custom loot tables to fit its structures into the world better. Standard pillager outpost loot, village profession chests, bells, and workstations are all still present, alongside some new items like food and armor.

Compatibility

CTOV builds its structures around vanilla biome tags, so it works alongside most world generation mods rather than conflicting with them for space. Honestly, and that includes mods like Terralith, Oh The Biomes You'll Go, and Biomes O'Plenty, as well as structure mods like Town and Tower and Repurposed Structures.

Mods that add their own new villagers need a separate compatibility pack to work with CTOV's structures.

License

CTOV is released under a Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 International license, which restricts commercial use and modified redistribution of the mod itself.
