What it does
NoSignGUI is a client-side utility that lets you turn off the sign text interface. When enabled, right-clicking a sign or hanging sign does not open the text editor. You can toggle this behavior on and off using the G key by default. The mod saves your current setting in a config file, so your preference persists between sessions.
This is useful if you place many blank signs for building or trapping. Real talk, without the mod, every sign placement opens the text box, which can be annoying when you just want to place the block. With NoSignGUI active, you can place signs quickly without the GUI popping up. If you need to edit a sign later, you can toggle the mod off, edit the text, and toggle it back on.
How it works
The mod functions entirely on the client side. You do not need to install it on the server. It supports both standard signs and hanging signs. The latest release, v3.1.0, includes a fix for sign editing being blocked after placement while the mod is enabled. It uses targeted packet handling to skip only the automatic post-placement GUI, so right-clicking an existing sign after placement works as expected.
Compatibility
NoSignGUI supports three Minecraft versions: 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3. It works with three mod loaders: Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge. The mod is required on the client side and isn't supported on the server side. It's licensed under the MIT License.
Who it suits
This mod is for players who build with many signs, especially blank ones. If you use signs for decoration, traps, or redstone mechanisms and find the text editor disruptive, this tool removes that friction. It's a simple, single-purpose utility that does not change other game mechanics.
Limitations
The mod only affects the sign text interface. It doesn't change sign rendering, durability, or any other sign behavior. That isn't a server-side mod, so it won't affect other players' clients. If you encounter issues or want to request features, the project maintains a GitHub repository for reports.
