Our summary

What this project does

What First Join Message Does First Join Message is a server-side mod that sends a message to players when they join a world for the first time. The message is fully configurable through a simple settings file. You can set what the player sees, including using %s to insert their name into the text. The mod also lets you choose the message color from a range of 16 options, indexed from 0 to 15, covering standard Minecraft text formatting colors like dark green, gold, red, and white. If you want everyone on the server to see when a new player joins, you can enable a separate broadcast message. And this second message also supports %s for the player name and has its own color setting. Both messages can be turned off by leaving their fields empty. ## How It Works The mod requires no client-side installation. It runs only on the server, so players connecting with any standard client will receive the message as long as the server has the mod installed. First Join Message supports multiple mod loaders: Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt. It's compatible with specific Minecraft versions including 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9, and several 26.x snapshots as listed in the Modrinth project record. The mod doesn't alter gameplay mechanics or add commands. Its sole function is to deliver a configurable message on first join. Server administrators often use it to share rules, welcome notes, or minigame instructions. ## Licensing and Distribution The mod is distributed under an All Rights Reserved license. You can host it in modpacks as long as the download stays within CurseForge or Modrinth ecosystems. There are no known dependencies beyond the supported mod loaders. The mod doesn't require any external libraries or API integrations beyond standard loader functionality. It is designed to be lightweight and non-intrusive, with no performance impact reported in the sources. All configuration happens server-side via a text file. Changes take effect after a server restart or config reload, depending on your loader’s capabilities. The mod doesn't track player data beyond detecting whether a player has joined before. This detection is handled internally and doesn't require external databases or player tracking systems.
