Our summary

What this project does

What it does

FroglightsReimagined is a small decoration mod built around one job: giving players more Froglight options. According to the project's own listing, it adds 16 new Froglight blocks, each a distinct color, plus 16 matching Froglight Lantern variants to go with them. On top of the new blocks, the mod adds crafting recipes for every Froglight in the set, including the three that already exist in vanilla Minecraft. That means you get a recipe path to Froglights generally, not just the new colored ones, so you don't have to rely on whatever method you were using before to get the vanilla blocks.

Coloring and dyeing

The color options aren't fixed once you place a block either. Per the project description, Froglights can be dyed into each other's colors using their own dyes or materials. If you already have Froglights down in a build and want a different shade without tearing the whole thing out, that dye-based swap is the tool for it. And it also means the set works as one connected system of color options rather than 16 separate blocks you've to collect new copies of.

Who it's for

This fits players doing decorative or lighting-focused builds who found vanilla's three Froglight colors too limiting. On Modrinth it's categorized under Building and Decoration, in line with adding new light blocks, lanterns, and recipes rather than changing how the game is played.

Compatibility and requirements

FroglightsReimagined is a Fabric mod, built for Minecraft 1.20.1. Look, the project lists both client side and server side as required, so it needs to be installed on the server as well as every connecting client, it isn't something you can add just locally for singleplayer polish while leaving a server untouched. There's no mention of support for other mod loaders or other Minecraft versions in the project's own listing, so stick to Fabric 1.20.1 unless the author states otherwise. The project is released under an all-rights-reserved license, so redistribution of the mod's files isn't open the way a permissive license would allow.

Roadmap

The author's own notes list a handful of future plans beyond the current release: Froglight Lamps, additional Froglight variants, and some kind of frog integration. None of that's shipped yet, it's listed as planned work, so treat it as a direction the mod might go rather than something you can use today.
