Core Functionality
Jukebox Looping modifies the standard behavior of jukeboxes in Minecraft. When a music disc finishes playing, the song automatically restarts instead of stopping. This creates a continuous audio loop for any jukebox that's not configured to stop. The mod is designed to be unobtrusive, allowing players to enjoy background music without manually restarting tracks.
Redstone Compatibility
The mod includes a specific rule to ensure it doesn't break existing redstone mechanisms. Real talk, jukeboxes won't loop if they're placed directly above a block entity. This design choice allows redstone contraptions that rely on disc playback to continue functioning as intended. For example, disc shufflers and other automated systems that use jukeboxes won't be disrupted by the looping behavior because the presence of underlying block entities prevents the loop from engaging.
Hopper Interaction
Hoppers are classified as block entities in Minecraft. So, any jukebox placed above a hopper will not loop its music. This ensures that hopper-based collection systems, which typically remove discs after playback, continue to work exactly as they did before the mod was installed. Players using these systems don't need to make any changes to their builds.
Custom Non-Looping Jukeboxes
The block entity rule can also be used intentionally to create non-looping jukeboxes. If you need a jukebox that plays a song only once, you can place it above a passive block entity that doesn't interact with the jukebox, such as a barrel. The presence of the barrel suppresses the looping behavior, causing the song to stop after it finishes. This provides a simple way to customize jukebox behavior without additional configuration.
Installation Requirements
Jukebox Looping is a server-side mod. It doesn't need to be installed on the client side. Players can join a server running this mod without having the mod installed in their own game. This makes it easy to add to existing servers without requiring every player to update their launcher or install new files.
Supported Platforms
The mod supports the Fabric and Quilt mod loaders. It's compatible with lots of Minecraft versions, including releases from 1.20 through 1.21.11, as well as the 26.1 and 26.2 versions. The exact list of supported versions is extensive, covering many recent and experimental releases. Check the project page for the full list of compatible versions.
