Random Enchant Fix

by Txni

A Fabric and Neoforge mod that stops the enchant_with_levels function from adding unwanted enchantments in loot tables, with a built-in fix for Dungeons and Taverns placeholder enchantments.

Our summary

What this project does

What it does Random Enchant Fix targets a specific behavior in Minecraft's loot system. The minecraft:enchant_with_levels function can apply random enchantments to items in loot tables. In some datapacks, this pulls in enchantments that were never meant for normal gameplay - placeholder enchants used only on custom boss mobs, for example. This mod lets modpack developers block those unwanted enchantments from appearing on loot-generated items. The mod ships with a default configuration that removes the placeholder enchantments used by the Dungeons and Taverns datapack. If you run that datapack, the fix works out of the box. For other datapacks or custom loot tables, you can extend the blocklist with your own entries. ## Who it's for Modpack authors and server operators who use datapacks with custom loot tables and want control over which enchantments can appear on generated loot. It's also useful for players who have encountered weird, unintended enchantments showing up in chests or mob drops and want them gone without editing the datapack itself. ## Compatibility and requirements The mod runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 with either the Fabric or Neoforge loader. Both client and server need the mod installed. It doesn't support Forge, and no other Minecraft versions are listed. The license is a custom Tonis-MMC-License rather than a standard open-source license, so check the terms if you plan to redistribute or include it in a public pack. ## How it fits in a pack This is a targeted utility mod. And it doesn't add content, change gameplay mechanics broadly, or optimize performance. It solves one specific loot-table problem cleanly. If your pack doesn't use enchant_with_levels in loot tables, or doesn't have the Dungeons and Taverns datapack, you likely don't need it. If you do, it's a lightweight drop-in fix.
