What it does
Sky Aesthetics is an API for anyone who wants to customize Minecraft's sky without writing a full mod. Instead of coding in Java, you configure sky changes in a file and drop it into your resourcepack. This lets resourcepack creators and modders add sky effects without rebuilding the same customization logic over and over.
How it works
The mod itself is just an API. So it doesn't change anything by default. You need resourcepacks or other mods that specifically use Sky Aesthetics to see any actual changes. Honestly, once you install a resourcepack designed to use it, the API reads your configuration file and applies the sky customizations when you load the game.
What you can build
Sky Aesthetics lets you add custom objects to the sky, change or remove sun and moon textures, resize the sun and moon, add stars in different colors, animate stars so they move, remove clouds completely, remove rain, shift the sky tint and sunset colors, overlay the End dimension's sky onto your world, add shooting stars, and draw constellation lines.
Shader compatibility
This mod works alongside most shader packs, though not every feature survives the combination. You can add sky objects, change sun and moon textures, and shift sky colors, especially if you switch the sky type to END or NONE. However, stars and clouds are handled by the shader itself, so those specific features won't work when shaders are active. If you use shaders, plan your sky effects around this limitation.
Technical details
Sky Aesthetics runs on the client side only. Servers don't need it installed, and it doesn't affect multiplayer worlds. It supports Fabric and Neoforge loaders on Minecraft versions 26.1.2 and 26.2.
Getting started
Since this is an API, you'll need resourcepacks that use it to see any sky changes. All configuration happens through resourcepack files, not in-game menus. The project includes a wiki with configuration examples. Development is ongoing, and bug reports are welcomed on the issue tracker.
