SuperFancyClouds: Refabricated

by Rivmun

A Fabric and NeoForge mod that replaces vanilla clouds with dynamic, biome-aware layers that react to weather, time, and terrain height.

Our summary

What this project does

What it does SuperFancyClouds: Refabricated replaces Minecraft's flat cloud layer with a volumetric system that responds to the world around it. Clouds shift density based on biome and current weather, blush at dawn and dusk, darken underneath when thick, and steer clear of tall terrain or player-built structures. Rain only falls where clouds exist above you. The result is a sky that feels three-dimensional without leaving the vanilla art style. ## Who it's for Players who want a better-looking sky without shader packs or heavy rendering mods. It runs client-side only if that's all you install, but adding it to the server lets everyone see the same cloud shapes and gives admins a command (/sfcr help) to tweak settings live. ## Main features - Biome-aware density that reads downfall values chunk by chunk - Weather-reactive clouds that thicken or thin with rain and storms - Time-of-day coloring: warm tones at sunrise and sunset - Terrain avoidance: clouds push away from mountains and high builds - Rain particles spawn only under cloud cover - Per-dimension configuration so the Nether and End can have their own rules - Optional server-side sync so all clients share identical cloud patterns ## Compatibility notes Requires Architectury API on all platforms. Fabric installs also need Fabric API. Cloth Config and Mod Menu are optional but add a proper settings screen. Known incompatibilities: any mod that rewrites cloud rendering (Cull Clouds, Extended Clouds, and similar) will conflict and may crash. With Sodium, disable its cloud mixin by setting mixin.features.render.world.clouds=false in sodium-mixins.properties. Works alongside Distant Horizons (enable manually to stop LOD chunks from being covered) and Particle Rain (enable manually so rain respects cloud positions). Serene Seasons and Fabric Seasons can drive cloud density changes across the year. ## Supported versions Fabric and NeoForge builds exist for 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3. Older Fabric and Forge releases cover 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, and 1.20.x. Licensed MIT, free for any modpack.
