Overview
Talentium is a Java-based mod that introduces a talent system to Minecraft. It adds 13 distinct talents, each tied to a core gameplay mechanic such as mining, fishing, or combat. As players perform related actions, they earn experience in the corresponding talent and unlock passive bonuses or new abilities. The mod also adds over 60 advancements to track progress and a variety of new items, including spell tomes, unique crop drops, and custom tool tags.
Talents and Gameplay
Each talent has its own level curve and a configurable level cap. Look, the talents cover lots of mechanics:
- Agriculture - increased crop drops and special items like Ender Beetroot.
- Axes - armor-negation chance and damage bonus.
- Blocking - counter-attack charges and extra armor when a shield is held.
- Brewing - longer potion durations, stackable potions, and faster brewing.
- Excavation - treasure drops from shovels and brushing suspicious sand or gravel.
- Fishing - biome-based fish and higher treasure chances.
- Magic - ten powerful spells for combat, defense, and utility, found as spell tomes in Stronghold libraries.
- Marksmanship - boosts for bows, crossbows, and tridents, including pierce and area damage.
- Mining - increased mining speed and ore drops.
- Smithing - random bonuses to gear crafted with matching enhancers.
- Sneak - temporary invisibility and first-hit damage bonus.
- Swords - bleed damage, regeneration removal, and extra attack power.
- Taming - stronger wolves, faster horses, and a chance for twin offspring.
Configuration and Commands
Server operators can set a player’s talent level directly with a scoreboard command, e.g.:
/scoreboard players set @s ttm.swords_level 100
The mod exposes tags so other mods or datapacks can register custom items, such as adding a new sword type to the data/ttm/tags/items/swords.json tag.
Compatibility and Setup
Talentium is a server-side mod; clients can join without installing it. It supports the following mod loaders:
