Tinkers' Construct

by KnightMiner

Tinkers' Construct lets you build modular tools from many materials, melt metals in a multiblock smeltery, and modify gear that never breaks or disappears.

Our summary

What this project does

What the mod does Tinkers' Construct replaces vanilla tool crafting with a modular system. You assemble tools from individual parts - pickaxe heads, bindings, rods - each made from a different material. The resulting tool keeps its identity: it never disappears, can be renamed, and accepts modifiers that change how it works. The mod also adds a progression path for metal processing. A multiblock smeltery melts ores into liquid metal, which you cast into tool parts or blocks. Early game uses a melter and alloyer; later you expand into a full foundry. World generation adds slime islands in the Overworld, Nether, and End, plus slimy geodes deep underground and cobalt ore in the Nether. These provide the slime crystals and cobalt needed for advanced parts. ## Who it suits Players who want to design their own toolkit instead of climbing a fixed tier list. If you like naming a pickaxe, swapping its mining speed for extra durability, or adding auto-smelt and fortune on the same tool, this mod fits. It also suits modpack builders who need a deep tech tree with visible, physical machines. ## Main verified capabilities - Part builder, tinker station, and modifier workstation for assembling and upgrading tools. - Melter, alloyer, smeltery, and foundry for melting and casting metals. - Four slime colors from generated islands across all three dimensions. - Cobalt ore generation in the Nether. - In-game guide book called Materials and You to walk you through the basics. - Requires the Mantle library mod. - JEI integration for recipe viewing. ## Compatibility caveats The current Modrinth build targets Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge and NeoForge. Both client and server must have the mod installed. The project description notes official builds exist for 1.18.2+, 1.16.5, 1.12.2, 1.7.10, and 1.6.4, but the published Modrinth file only lists 1.20.1. Don't assume other versions are available from this source. Modpacks may include the mod freely under the MIT license, but the authors require using official downloads and place support responsibility on the pack maker. Custom-built jars and outdated Minecraft versions are not supported.
