What the mod does
No Fog is a client-side mod created by Virtuoel. Its main job is straightforward. It disables fog in your game so you can see your surroundings clearly. If you join multiplayer servers, you don't need the host to install anything. Server-side installation is unsupported, so the mod runs entirely on your local game client.
The project is categorized under building and decoration as well as utility and quality of life. It helps when thick visual fog obscures distant land or gets in the way of large builds.
Configuration behavior
By default, the mod disables all fog without requiring any manual setup. If you don't have ClothConfig installed, you won't have any configuration menus. In that setup, all fog types remain disabled at all times.
You can customize your experience by installing ClothConfig. Look, when you've ClothConfig present, the mod lets you toggle individual fog types. The mod evaluates your toggle settings using a strict priority order. It checks biome settings first. The result checks dimension settings second. What you get checks global settings last.
This priority structure means a biome-specific rule will override any dimension rule you set. Likewise, a dimension-level rule takes precedence over your global fog preferences. If you don't set a rule for a specific area, the mod falls back to the broader setting.
Menu access by loader
How you reach the settings menu depends on your mod loader and game version.
On Fabric and Quilt for Minecraft 1.16.5 and newer, you can edit settings directly while playing in a world. For that in-game menu to work, you must have ClothConfig, ModMenu, and either FabricAPI or QSL installed.
On Forge for versions 1.16.5 through 1.20.1, you can adjust settings from the main menu if ClothConfig is present.
On NeoForge for version 1.20.2 and newer, you can also adjust settings from the main menu when ClothConfig is installed.
Supported platforms and versions
The project is distributed under the MIT License. It supports four mod loaders: Fabric, Quilt, Forge, and NeoForge.
The mod supports specific Minecraft releases. You can install it on 1.21, 1.20.6, 1.20.4, 1.20.2, 1.20.1, 1.19.4, 1.19.2, 1.18.2, 1.17.1, and 1.16.5.
