What REI does
Roughly Enough Items is a recipe and item viewer created by shedaniel under the MIT License. It gives you a clean way to browse recipes and look up items in inventory screens. It's a direct alternative to Just Enough Items. Both client and server installations are optional.
Finding what you need during a play session is quick. You can bookmark any item by hovering over it and pressing the A key. That puts the item into your favorites list so you don't lose track of it. If you want to export recipes outside the game interface, REI has an export tool tied to a keybind that's unbound by default.
Search syntax and filtering
The search bar includes specific filter prefixes. Here's the thing, you can search by mod name by adding the at symbol before the name, like @materialisation. Mod name filters ignore letter casing.
If you remember text from a description, prefix your query with a hash symbol to search tooltips. Searching #protection finds protection books without checking item titles. Searching tags works the same way with a dollar sign prefix, so typing $logs shows all tagged logs.
Complex searches are supported too. Enclosing words in quotation marks lets you search phrases with spaces, like "#protection iii". You can combine queries with a pipe symbol, which matches either term. If you need regex pattern matching, enclosing an expression in forward slashes with an r prefix activates case-sensitive regex search.
Loader and server compatibility
REI runs on multiple environments. Project records list support for Neoforge and Fabric loaders, alongside files for Forge and Rift. The Fabric build is compatible on Quilt.
On Forge, REI supports JEI plugins. Certain mods might require the REI Compatibility Workaround to function properly with them. If you run a multiplayer server and want to support both JEI and REI players, install JEI alongside the REI Server Component on the server.
