FallingTree changes how you break trees in Minecraft. Instead of chopping every log, you break one and the whole tree comes down. The mod offers four modes to suit different playstyles. Instantaneous mode makes the tree fall instantly when you break a log. Shift down mode moves logs down slowly as you cut them, giving a more gradual feel. Fall items mode drops the tree as items with an animation. Fall blocks mode drops the tree as blocks on the ground with an animation.
You can adjust what counts as a tree through the config. This includes which log and leaf blocks are affected. You can also set which tools work - add more axes, allow all tools, or restrict to specific ones. Leaf breaking can be turned on or off. There’s an option to disable the mod by sneaking, which can be reversed if needed. The falling speed can scale with tree size so larger trees take longer to fall. Tool damage can be enabled or set to break the tool based on how many blocks were in the tree. You can also leave tools at 1 durability if they would otherwise break.
For Fabric users, Fabric API is required. For Forge and NeoForge users, Cloth Config API is optional on the client and adds a GUI for in-game configuration. The mod can run server-side only on most setups. Real talk, clients aren't required unless you use the speed scaling or enchantment features. Starting with Minecraft 1.21, enchantments must be added via a separate datapack.
FallingTree is known to have incompatibilities with VeinMiner. If you want to use both mods together, you can run the command /veinminer groups remove Wood to avoid conflicts.
The mod supports Minecraft versions 26.3, 26.2, and 26.1.2. It works with Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge loaders. That is categorized as a Utility & Quality of Life mod and is licensed under the GNU LGPLv3.
