Overview
I18nUpdateMod is a client utility built by xfl03. It handles the Simplified Chinese language pack for Minecraft mods, known as the Minecraft Mod Language Package. The CFPAOrg team maintains this translation project to turn English text in community mods into Chinese.
Instead of hunting down translation files by hand, you drop this mod in your game. But it checks for language assets, pulls down updates, and applies them straight to your client. That runs purely on the client side. Do not install it on dedicated servers, because server environments are unsupported.
How it works
The mod automatically downloads, updates, and applies community translations. It fetches official language pack assets targeted at versions like 1.10.2, 1.12.2, 1.16, 1.18, 1.19, 1.20, and 1.21.
To widen coverage across releases, the mod merges and converts nearby translation packages. It also supports downloading files from mirrors.
One technical boundary exists across older and newer game editions. Minecraft 1.13 changed internal language files to the JSON format. Because of that structural change, language files from 1.12.2 can't load on 1.13 or newer releases. The reverse is also true. Packs made for modern JSON formats don't work on 1.12.2 or earlier editions.
Setup and compatibility
Setup is straightforward. You put the mod jar file in your mods folder. Honestly, folks who try this don't need separate jar files or isolated builds for different loaders.
The single file works across Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, and Quilt. It runs on Java runtimes from Java 8 up to Java 21. Specific game releases documented in project records stretch from early releases like 1.6.1 through 1.21.10.
The project is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only. If you want modded menus, items, and tooltips in Simplified Chinese without manual pack management, this tool does the job.
