What kiwi is
Kiwi is a Minecraft modding library created by Snownee. The project exists to handle repetitive background code so developers can focus on content creation. So it also powers Snownee's own collection of mods. If you download one of those mods, you'll likely need Kiwi installed alongside it.
The library is published under the MIT License. It works on three distinct mod loaders: Fabric, Quilt, and Neoforge. Supported game releases are limited to Minecraft versions 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, and 1.21.1. You can install it on either side of the game. Client installation is optional, and server installation is optional as well.
Player tools and quality of life
Even though it's primarily a library, Kiwi includes several built-in tweaks for players. These features are configurable.
You get extra details on your items. The mod shows item NBT data and tags inside item tooltips. It also disables telemetry from Microsoft.
Kiwi adds two helpful commands. Here's the thing, you can type /kalc to run a simple math calculator directly in the game chat. If popup alerts get annoying, you can type /kiwic quiet. That command mutes your active toast notifications and sounds.
Other tweaks come disabled by default. You can enable an option to suppress the experimental world settings warning when loading certain worlds. Another option lets you remove the fading animation when you reload resource packs or return to the main menu. To adjust any of these options while playing in-game, you should install Cloth Config.
Tools for developers
For programmers, Kiwi provides modular code structures.
You can declare items and blocks with module annotations like @KiwiModule. The library handles registration automatically through helper wrappers.
It also supports conditional module loading. You can mark a module as optional and assign it to a specific mod dependency. When configured this way, the module initializes during common setup events only if the target dependency is loaded. Kiwi also handles configuration files. It supports common configuration types, value ranges, path keys, and event listeners, with full integration for Cloth Config.
