Audio for generic blocks

Many blocks in standard Minecraft share generic sound effects. Quality Sounds replaces these defaults by adding specific sounds for stepping on, hitting, breaking, and placing blocks that lack dedicated audio. RKeblawi built the project to expand audio variety across your world.

Supported block types

The mod includes over 50 distinct sound groups. Different wood varieties receive dedicated audio, including acacia, birch, jungle, mangrove, spruce, oak, and dark oak.

You also get custom audio for functional containers and workstations like barrels, beehives, bookshelves, chests, and looms. Stone and mineral materials have distinct sound sets as well. These include clay, bricks, cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, stone bricks, mossy stone bricks, and sandstone. Natural stone types like andesite, diorite, and granite are covered.

Ores and metal blocks receive separate treatment. The mod provides audio for iron, gold, and copper ores, along with deepslate ore variants. Raw gold blocks, gold blocks, emerald, iron bars, hoppers, cauldrons, and iron trapdoors also use their own sound groups. Other covered blocks include glass, glowstone, sea lanterns, beacons, redstone lamps, hay bales, ice, packed ice, blue ice, terracotta, bedrock, magma blocks, lapis, glazed terracotta, end stone, end stone bricks, prismarine, dark prismarine, respawn anchors, enchanting tables, ender chests, quartz variants, diamond blocks, obsidian, crying obsidian, and redstone blocks. Honestly, the audio files come from ZapSplat under their standard license for gold members.

Configuration options

You don't have to keep every audio change active. The mod includes a configuration file that lets you enable or disable individual sound groups. If you prefer default sounds for a specific block group like glass or chests, you can toggle that group off in the settings.

Platform and dependencies

Quality Sounds is a client-side mod. It's unsupported on dedicated servers, so you do not install it on server software. The mod is released under the MIT license.

For Fabric users, the mod supports Minecraft 1.19.3, 1.19.4, 1.20, 1.20.1, and 1.20.2. Fabric API is required.

For Forge users, it supports Minecraft 1.19.2, 1.19.3, 1.19.4, 1.20, 1.20.1, and 1.20.2. The Forge build requires Cloth Config API.
