What It Does
Sooty Chimneys for Fabric is an unofficial port of the original Sooty Chimneys mod. It brings decorative chimney blocks to your build. You can place brick, stone brick, terracotta, and copper chimneys. Each one emits smoke particles. The mod requires both the client and server to have it installed. It runs on the Fabric loader for Minecraft versions 1.19.2 and 1.20.1.
Soot and Cleaning
Chimneys don't stay clean forever. Over time, soot covers the block surface. The chimney looks dirty. You can scrape the soot off using an axe. This action has a chance to drop Black Dye. It isn't guaranteed every time. If you want to keep your build looking fresh, you'll need to check on your chimneys periodically.
Wind Interaction
The smoke does not just go straight up. So it reacts to the wind. The direction and strength of the wind affect how the smoke moves. That mod simulates weather conditions. Wind is stronger during rain and thunderstorms. It calms down in the evening. So this feature only applies to smoke generated by Sooty Chimneys. Honestly, it does not affect smoke from other mods or vanilla sources.
Redstone and Control
You can control the smoke flow with redstone. If a chimney receives a redstone signal, it stops emitting smoke. This is useful for automated builds or specific aesthetic setups. You can also toggle the smoke manually. Right-click the chimney with an empty hand to turn the smoke on or off. And this gives you direct control without needing redstone wiring.
Compatibility and Requirements
This mod is specific to the Fabric loader. It doesn't support Forge or NeoForge. The supported Minecraft versions are strictly 1.19.2 and 1.20.1. It doesn't support 1.21 or later versions. For those versions, the project directs users to a different mod page. The mod requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin to function. It's licensed under the MIT License. The original mod and assets are by mortuusars, while otomir23 handled the Fabric port.
