What Better Days Does
Better Days is a mod for players who think Minecraft's default day and night cycle moves too fast. It lets you set the length of daytime and nighttime independently, so a full day can drag out like real life or a night can zip by if you'd rather skip the danger.
Sleeping and Time
Instead of the vanilla sleep rule, Better Days speeds up the clock while you're in bed, and the effect scales with how many players are sleeping at once on a server. There's no vote or threshold to manage. One player asleep still moves the clock along, more players sleeping just pushes it faster.
Optional Time Effects
Beyond day-night length, the mod can also speed up things tied to the passage of time, like crop growth, grass spreading, weather changes, potion effects, and the work furnaces and hoppers do. These are extras. Real talk, most sit off unless you turn them on in the config, so a fresh install won't suddenly change how your farms behave.
Compatibility
The mod plays fine with Homeostatic, Ready Player Fun, Serene Seasons, and Enhanced Celestials. A few others need attention. Sleep Warp and Sleep Tight both turn off Better Days' own sleep system when installed. Quark is a mixed bag: its Improved Sleeping module clashes with the sleep feature here, and its Nerf Clock tweak breaks the in-game bed clock unless you disable one side or the other. Nomadic Tents works too, but expect an extra full day to pass after you wake up. The Hordes needs a specific config flag set or it won't function at all alongside this mod. Immersive Snow will override day and night length outright if you're also running a season mod, since its own override is on by default. Steve's Realistic Sleep shouldn't be run alongside Better Days at all.
Time only moves through Better Days in the Overworld directly, though other dimensions that take their time cues from the Overworld will still shift at the same pace.
Who It's For
This fits server owners and solo players who want nights that don't end the moment two people click a bed, or who want a day that actually feels long enough to get something done before the sun goes down. It's config-driven, so how much you tinker is up to you.
Setup Notes
Better Days runs on NeoForge and Fabric, and needs to be installed on both the client and the server. It doesn't write anything to your world save, so pulling it out later won't leave anything behind. It's released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3 or later.
