What FeyTweaks Does
FeyTweaks is a client-side mod for Fabric and Forge that targets two specific rendering costs in Minecraft: signs and beacons. If you've ever walked into a shopping district packed with player shops, or dropped into a base ringed with beacon towers, and watched your frame rate crater, this is the kind of problem the mod goes after. It's listed under the Performance category, and it only needs to run on the client, it doesn't need anything installed on the server side.
Sign Optimization
Most of the sign-related settings are aimed at cutting down what actually gets drawn to the screen. By default, FeyTweaks fully hides sign text once you're far enough away from it, hides text that falls outside your view entirely, and hides the outline around glowing text. There's also an option to convert that text outline into a shadow instead, with a normal mode and a faster beta mode to pick from. Here's the thing, on top of that, you can fully hide the glow effect on text at a distance, and there's a separate beta setting for optimizing the glow effect rendering itself.
Beacon Optimization
Beacon beams get the same treatment. The mod can fully hide beacon beams once you're far enough away, and by default it already hides beams that fall outside your view and applies a general beacon beam optimization. If your server or base runs a wall of beacons, these are the settings meant to take the edge off.
Compatibility
FeyTweaks lists support for Minecraft 1.21.1, 1.21, 1.20.6, 1.20.4, 1.20.2, 1.20.1, 1.20, 1.19.4, 1.19.3, and 1.18.2, and it works with both Fabric and Forge. That's a wide spread of versions, but treat each one as its own supported point rather than assuming everything between them is covered too, since that's not what the listing states. One of the mod's GitHub releases, version 1.2.2, added 1.19.x support along with updated language files and a reordered config, and it called for Fabric Loader 0.14.6 or newer on 1.18.2, or 0.14.8 or newer on 1.19.x, plus the Fabric API. The mod is released under the MIT License.
Who It's For
This is a narrow, purpose-built tool, not a general performance pack. But it makes sense if you already know signs and beacons are where your FPS drops, whether that's a market server with hundreds of player signs or a base with a beacon farm. If your slowdown comes from somewhere else, chunk loading, entities, lighting, this mod isn't aimed at that. Because it only needs the client, you can run it without asking a server admin to install anything alongside it, though you'll still need permission to run client mods on whatever server you're joining.
