What it does
Reacharound is a client side mod for Fabric and Quilt that changes how you place blocks. Normally you can only place a block straight ahead of where you're looking. This mod adds the ability to place blocks downward and upward too, so you can build up or dig a shaft down without repositioning yourself every time. The core placement logic was ported from Quark, the Forge mod, and adapted for this project.
Who it's for
If you build a lot of towers, bridges, or vertical shafts, this is aimed at you. So it removes some of the awkward repositioning that normally comes with placing blocks above or below your feet. It's a quality of life mod rather than a mod that adds new blocks or mechanics.
Placement indicators
The mod ships with three indicator styles: Default, Quark, and Custom. You pick which one shows you where a block will land before you place it. All three are configurable through Mod Menu, so you can switch styles or adjust settings without editing config files by hand.
Slab handling
Slabs get extra handling on top of the basic upward and downward placement. When you're bridging with slabs and placing more slabs against them, the mod tries to place them smart, so if you're building with upper slabs it keeps continuing as upper slabs instead of flipping orientation partway through. Real talk, vertical slab stacking is also handled so slabs stack cleanly without skipping a position partway up.
Requirements and compatibility
Reacharound is required on the client and is unsupported on the server, meaning it's built to run locally rather than as a server side plugin. It supports both Fabric and Quilt as loaders. On the Minecraft version side, it lists support for 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1, 26.1, 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.8, 1.21.7, 1.21.6, 1.21.5, 1.21.4, 1.21.3, and 1.21.2 as separate supported builds, not a single continuous range, so if your version isn't on that list treat it as unsupported.
Licensing note
The mod is distributed under a custom license reference tied to its use of code from Quark. Since the core placement logic was ported from that project, the license terms carry over from Quark's own license rather than being written from scratch for Reacharound.
Bottom line
Reacharound is a narrow, focused mod. It does one job, letting you place blocks up and down instead of just forward, and adds indicator options and smarter slab behavior on top of that. That doesn't touch gameplay balance or add content, it just changes how placement works while you build.
