What Big Fish Does Big Fish adds nine new fish species to Minecraft's fishing loot tables. Each fish appears in specific biomes and can be cooked for food. Some cooked fish provide extra effects like health boosts. The mod works on both client and server and requires either NeoForge or Forge. Supported versions include 1.21.1, 1.20.1, 1.19.2, 1.18.2 and 1.16.5. Fish are caught through normal fishing mechanics. Higher luck increases chances of catching better fish but does not guarantee them. Datapacks can override biome restrictions. An example datapack called Homeless Fish makes all fish available everywhere. ## Who It Suits This mod fits players who want more variety in fishing rewards. It suits those who enjoy cooking and food mechanics in survival play. But it also works for server admins adding light adventure elements without major overhauls. The biome-specific fish encourage exploration across different environments. Players who dislike randomness can use datapacks to adjust spawn rules. ## Main Features Nine new fish are added: Dark Crab, Mantaray, Shark, Anglerfish, Monkfish, Swordfish, Lobster, Slimy Eel and Shrimps. Each has a set hunger and saturation value when cooked. Anglerfish gives a 90-second health boost after eating. Slimy Eel restores a random amount of hunger and saturation between 1 and 10. Shrimps can be eaten quickly. All fish can be traded with fisherman villagers. Catch rates depend on the player's luck stat up to a cap of 13 luck. Vanilla fish still appear in catches even at max luck. ## Compatibility Caveats Big Fish requires both client and server installation. It only works with NeoForge or Forge mod loaders. No other loaders are supported. The mod doesn't support versions outside the listed set: 1.21.1, 1.20.1, 1.19.2, 1.18.2 and 1.16.5.
