Canary

What Canary does for you Canary is a general-purpose optimization mod built for the Forge loader. So it takes the performance work originally done in the Lithium mod and ports it to Forge, then layers on additional optimizations of its own. The goal is smoother gameplay without changing vanilla behavior. You can run it on a server, on a client, or on both - neither side requires the other to have the mod installed. ## Supported versions and loader The mod targets four specific Minecraft releases: 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.20.1, and 1.20.4. It's built for Forge only; there is no Fabric or NeoForge version published by this project. ## Configuration that lets you choose Instead of a single on/off switch, Canary uses a granular configuration system. Each optimization patch can be enabled or disabled independently. If a specific change causes a conflict with another mod or behaves unexpectedly in your pack, you can turn off just that patch while keeping the rest active. The project wiki documents the available options. ## What gets optimized The ported Lithium improvements cover mob AI, chunk loading, game physics, and other core systems. On top of that, Canary adds its own optimizations aimed at reducing server tick time and client-side overhead. The project description references a server tick time graph measured in an existing world at render distance 18, but it doesn't publish a specific percentage improvement or FPS number. Treat the gains as variable depending on your world, hardware, and mod list. ## Modpack and development notes You are free to include Canary in modpacks. The author accepts bug reports, feature requests, and pull requests through the linked issue tracker. The license is LGPL v3.0 only. ## A note on the name The GitHub repository linked from the Modrinth page (CanaryLib) describes a separate server modification and library project with plugin APIs and data management. That repository appears to belong to a different, older CanaryMod effort. The optimization mod you download from Modrinth is the Forge port of Lithium plus extra patches, not the CanaryLib server framework.
