Chinese Festivals is a client-side Minecraft mod that adds subtle holiday-themed changes to the game during traditional Chinese festivals. And it doesn't require server installation and works on both single-player and multiplayer clients.
Currently Supported Festivals
Spring Festival
During the Spring Festival, the mod replaces item frame and glow item frame models with plates, changes lantern and soul lantern models to festive lanterns, updates four painting textures to show Spring Festival couplets, alters creeper firework shapes to resemble dragons, and changes rabbit stew and beetroot soup items to display as dumplings and tangyuan (sweet rice balls).
Lantern Festival
For the Lantern Festival, lantern and soul lantern models are again set to lantern styles, and beetroot soup is shown as tangyuan.
Qingming Festival
In Qingming Festival, baked potatoes appear as qingtuan (green rice balls), item frames are shown as plates, and certain foods gain 3D models when placed in frames.
Dragon Boat Festival
During Dragon Boat Festival, pumpkin pie is modeled as zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and boats or rafts are rendered as dragon boats.
Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival updates the moon texture, changes cake models to mooncakes, and sets both cake and pumpkin pie items to display as mooncakes.
Double Ninth Festival
For Double Ninth Festival, cookie items are shown as Chongyang cake.
Winter Solstice
At Winter Solstice, soul campfires appear as clear broth hot pots, regular campfires as nine-grid hot pots, and both campfire and soul campfire items are displayed as hot pots, with rabbit stew again shown as dumplings.
Laba Festival
Finally, during Laba Festival, mushroom stew becomes Laba porridge and rabbit stew is displayed as tangyuan.
Technical Details
The mod supports Minecraft versions 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, and 1.21.1. It is compatible with Neoforge, Forge, Fabric, and Quilt mod loaders. No server-side installation is needed, as the mod runs only on the client. All changes are cosmetic and don't alter gameplay mechanics. The mod is intended for players who enjoy seasonal details and cultural touches in their Minecraft experience.
