What Alloyed adds

Alloyed puts two new metals into Minecraft: Bronze and Steel. Bronze is a copper alloy. Steel is an iron alloy. Around them the mod builds a set of blocks and items, so the metals have real uses beyond sitting in a chest.

It's made by Cassian, released under the MIT License, and listed in the Equipment and Technology categories on Modrinth.

The Alloy Forge

Both metals come from one new workstation block, the Alloy Forge. That's where you craft the alloys. Honestly, if you want either metal, you start there.

What each metal is for

Bronze is mostly for looks and sound. The project describes it as most commonly used for decoration and instruments.

Steel is the tougher one. It's known for durability and strength, and the project points to structures and tools as its main uses.

Works with other mods

Alloyed is built to sit comfortably in modpacks. It adds extras when certain other mods are present:

  • Create: bronze and steel casing blocks. They use Create recipes and Create's connected textures system.
  • Create: Deco: steel versions of this mod's blocks, including catwalk blocks.
  • Farmer's Delight (Refabricated): a steel knife.
  • Backported Spears: a steel spear. The project says this one is also available on vanilla 26.1.
  • Reliable Recipe Viewer and EMI: Alloy Forge recipes show up in both.

So if you already run Create and want metals that match its look, this is the obvious fit. If you don't, the mod still stands on its own.

Loaders, versions and sides

Alloyed supports NeoForge and Fabric. The listed Minecraft versions are 1.21.1, 26.1, 26.1.1 and 26.1.2.

Both the client and the server need it installed.

New updates only target 1.21.1 and 26.1. The project says there's no plan to backport to older versions or to add other loaders.

One note for Kilt users. If you play Create on Fabric 1.21.1 through Kilt, the project says to use the NeoForge build of Alloyed, not the Fabric one.

The Create name and dependency

The mod used to be called Create Alloyed. Newer releases dropped the dependency on Create, and the name changed with it. Older versions, such as ones for 1.20.1 or 1.19.2, still need Create installed.

Who it suits

It's a good match for modpack builders who want two more metals with a clear crafting station. Create players get the most out of it, since the casing blocks plug into Create's own recipes and textures. People who just want decorative bronze or sturdier steel gear can use it without Create on current versions.

Keep it updated

The author says the mod is heavily in development, and every update brings important changes. The advice on the project page is to always grab the most recent version.

Credits

The original mod came from Team Molybdenum. MythrilBagels was the founder and artist. SpottyTheTurtle and FortressNebula were developers. For 1.21.1 and 26.1 the mod is currently developed by cassiancc, and the textures in recent releases come from asof and MythrilBagels.
