What it does
Dynamic Lights by Tschipcraft brings moving illumination to your world. So it works entirely on the server side. When players, mobs, or display entities carry supported items, they illuminate the surrounding area. Items placed in item frames and falling blocks can also emit light.
The system relies on vanilla light blocks. Because of this mechanic, illumination stays aligned with the standard block grid. Over 50 vanilla items work right out of the box, with brightness levels set to 3, 6, 9, 12, or 15.
Who it suits
This project fits server administrators who want moving light sources without forcing players to install client modifications. Anyone joining a server running this project gets the lighting effects automatically. Single-player users can also install the mod version locally, but joining an unmodded server with it will have no effect.
Notable capabilities
Certain items react to water. Enchanted gear glows at light level 6 by default, while gear with Fire Aspect, Riptide, or Channeling shines brighter at level 9. Honestly, armor with amethyst trim also gives off light.
Supported loaders include Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt, and Datapack formats. For modded inventories, it includes Curios API support. If you install MidnightLib alongside the mod build, you get access to an optional global configuration file and user interface. You can open settings or uninstall the pack in-game with /trigger tschipcraft.menu or /function #tschipcraft:menu.
Compatibility notes
The data pack follows conventions from Smithed and the essential MC Datapacks community. Because the system places light blocks to create illumination, it can conflict with piston mechanics in redstone setups.
