overview
AmbientSounds is a client mod created by creativemd. It adds ambient audio to your Minecraft world, filling out the environment with extra background sound. The mod is made for players who want a more detailed soundscape while exploring or building. On Modrinth, it's categorized under Building & Decoration.
Because audio happens locally, AmbientSounds runs purely on the client side. Client side installation is required. Server side installation is completely unsupported. That means you don't drop this mod into a server mods folder. You only need it on your personal game client.
supported versions and mod loaders
You can run AmbientSounds across several loaders and specific game updates. The mod supports Fabric, Forge, and Neoforge.
The supported Minecraft versions are:
- 26.3
- 26.2
- 1.21.1
- 1.20.1
Make sure you match your loader and Minecraft version with the appropriate mod file.
dependencies and compatibility
Before you launch your game with AmbientSounds, check your mods folder for dependencies. The mod requires CreativeCore to operate. CreativeCore is a required library mod by creativemd. If you don't install CreativeCore, AmbientSounds won't load.
Compatibility with world generation mods is already supported. AmbientSounds works well with world gen mods, so your custom terrain can still have ambient audio without conflicts. The mod also supports custom engines, giving you options if you use customized audio setups.
built-in commands and troubleshooting
AmbientSounds comes with two chat commands. You use them directly inside your game.
The first command is /cmdclientconfig. Here's the thing, typing this command opens up the client configuration menu. From there, you can inspect and change your client settings.
The second command is /ambient-debug. When you type /ambient-debug, the game shows you which ambient sounds are playing at that moment. This tool is useful if an audio track sounds out of place or if you run into bugs. If you ever need to report an issue to the author, provide the output from /ambient-debug so they can see what was playing.
