What this mod changes
Vanilla Minecraft replaces elements of your head-up display when you ride an animal. Better Mount HUD alters that display on your screen.
When you mount a horse, donkey, or other mount, you usually lose sight of your food meter. This mod keeps your food bar visible alongside the health of your mount. Both indicators show up on your screen at the exact same time. Here's the thing, you know when your character needs food without having to hop off your mount.
The experience bar also behaves differently. In standard gameplay, the jump bar takes over the experience bar space the entire time you sit on a mount. With this mod, your experience bar remains visible during regular riding. The jump bar only replaces the experience bar while you're actually jumping.
Interface features
The modification falls under the utility and quality of life categories. And it doesn't alter mount speed, jump height, or mob behavior. The result only adjusts what you see on the screen while riding.
Having both food and mount health on display at once helps you manage long journeys. You can watch your mount take damage in rough areas while keeping an eye on your own hunger points.
