Ksyxis

van VidTu

Ksyxis stops Minecraft from loading unneeded background chunks during world startup. It runs on servers and singleplayer worlds to cut memory use on lower-end systems.

Onze samenvatting

Wat dit project doet

What the mod does

Minecraft loads chunks into memory when you create or join a world. On older releases, the game keeps spawn chunks loaded in the background at all times. That background load costs memory and processing time.

Ksyxis disables these unneeded chunks.

The mod is aimed at low-end hardware. If you run a high-end machine, you might not notice much difference. The mod runs on dedicated servers and singleplayer client worlds. It doesn't do anything on a multiplayer client connected to a remote server.

Version differences

How the mod behaves depends on your exact game release.

On versions 1.8 through 1.20.4, Minecraft normally keeps a 21x21 chunk grid active at world spawn. Here's the thing, ksyxis removes this entire background area.

On versions 1.20.5 through 1.21.8, the base game loads a smaller 5x5 area around spawn. Ksyxis stops that 5x5 area from running continuously.

On versions 1.21.9 and newer, the base behavior changes again. The mod stops a 7x7 grid from loading around the player on join. It also drops a built-in 500ms delay during singleplayer world creation.

Technical contraptions and chunks

Automated farms and redstone setups sometimes rely on spawn chunks staying loaded. If you depend on those setups, you have a couple options.

In version 1.13 and newer, you can keep specific chunks loaded with the standard /forceload command. If you play on older releases, you can look for a separate chunk-loading mod.

You can also remove Ksyxis at any point if you want normal spawn behavior back. Removing the mod doesn't harm your saved worlds.

Loaders and requirements

Ksyxis supports Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt, Legacy Fabric, and Ornithe across Minecraft 1.8 and newer.

You do not need Fabric API or Quilt Standard Libraries to run it. The same file covers the supported mod loaders.

If you run Forge on versions 1.8 through 1.14.4, you must add an external Mixin provider such as MixinBootstrap, MixinBooter, or UniMixins. Forge 1.16 and newer doesn't need an extra Mixin tool.
