What this project changes
Default Minecraft forces a short timer on high tier movement buffs. Regular Speed II runs out after 1.5 minutes. That leaves you drinking bottles constantly if you sprint across long distances or fight tough mobs. Longer Speed II Potions fixes that by extending level 2 speed potions to last 8 minutes instead of 1.5 minutes.
The change applies to drinkable potions, splash potions, lingering potions, and tipped arrows. Each of these items has its duration increased to match the long level 1 version of that exact type. If you throw splash speed on teammates or shoot swiftness arrows, the effect stays active far longer.
Tooltip behavior in brewing stands
There's one visual quirk to keep in mind when brewing. Honestly, when you brew a fresh bottle, the tooltip still displays a duration of 1.5 minutes while the item sits in the brewing stand.
Don't worry about that display. The item updates immediately once you transfer it into your player inventory. From that point on, it works with the full extended duration as intended.
Installation options and server settings
This project is required on the server side and optional on the client side. So that makes life easy for multiplayer servers. Server administrators can install the file once, and players can join without downloading extra files on their own client computers.
You can install the project as a mod or as a datapack. For a mod setup on a server, open your main server folder, open the mods directory, and place the mod file inside. For a datapack setup on a server, open your world folder, find the datapacks directory, and upload the datapack file there.
For singleplayer worlds, open your.minecraft saves folder directly or through launcher instance settings in the Modrinth App or Prism Launcher. Open your world save, open its datapacks folder, and drop the file inside.
