No Telemetry

van kb1000

No Telemetry disables Minecraft's data collection that sends your Xbox ID and system info to Mojang servers, restoring privacy for players who opt out of tracking.

Onze samenvatting

Wat dit project doet

No Telemetry is a client-side mod that blocks the usage data collection introduced in Minecraft snapshot 21w38a. This telemetry system sends information from your game to Mojang servers whenever you load a singleplayer world or join a multiplayer server. The mod works by disabling this data transmission entirely.

The telemetry data includes your launcher identifier, Xbox user ID (XUID), client and world session IDs, game version, operating system details, Java runtime version, modded status, and server type. The XUID is particularly notable because it can be used to identify you personally, which raises privacy concerns under regulations like GDPR.

This mod is designed for players who want to prevent Mojang from collecting their usage data. It does not require server-side installation and functions purely on the client. Here's the thing, if you play on a server, the mod only affects what your client sends; it doesn't interfere with server operations or other players' experiences.

Compatibility is broad across modern Minecraft versions and mod loaders. The mod supports Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt loaders. So it is verified to work with Minecraft versions ranging from 1.18 through 1.21.8, including numerous snapshots and pre-releases such as 22w07a, 21w44a, and 1.19.3-rc1. The mod doesn't claim compatibility with versions outside this list, such as 1.17 or earlier, nor does it support server-side execution.

The mod is distributed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and is maintained by kb1000. It doesn't alter gameplay, add features, or modify game mechanics. Its sole purpose is to stop the telemetry data from leaving your machine. There are no configuration options; the mod is active once installed.

Players concerned about data privacy, especially those wary of transmitting identifiable information like their Xbox ID, may find this mod useful. It offers a straightforward way to opt out of a data collection system that Mojang doesn't provide a toggle for in the base game.
