Projectile Damage Attribute

van ZsoltMolnarrr

Adds a projectile damage attribute and Impact effect for bows and crossbows, plus an API for modders to define custom ranged weapons on Fabric and Forge.

Onze samenvatting

Wat dit project doet

What this mod does Projectile Damage Attribute introduces a new entity attribute called projectile_damage:generic. That attribute lets you adjust how much damage bows and crossbows deal on a per-item basis. It also adds a status effect named Impact. When applied, Impact raises the projectile damage of the affected entity for its duration. You can grant it with a command such as /effect give @p projectile_damage:impact 30 4. The mod requires installation on both client and server. A server-side configuration file appears in the config folder after the first run, giving you a place to tune values without editing code. ## Who it's for Players and pack makers who want finer control over ranged weapon balance can use the attribute and effect to tweak vanilla bows and crossbows or to create progression systems where better gear deals more projectile damage. Mod developers get a ready-made API for registering custom ranged weapons - cannons, blowpipes, or anything that extends ProjectileWeaponItem - with their own damage values and velocity compensation. ## Verified capabilities - Adds the projectile_damage:generic entity attribute for bow and crossbow damage customization. - Adds the Impact status effect that increases projectile damage while active. - Provides a server-side config file generated on first run. - Exposes an API (IProjectileWeapon and RangedWeaponKind) so other mods can register custom ranged weapon types with defined damage and max velocity. - Supports Fabric and Forge mod loaders. - Runs on Minecraft 1.20, 1.20.1, and 1.20.2. ## Compatibility notes The mod is built for Fabric and Forge. It doesn't list NeoForge or Quilt as supported loaders. Only the three Minecraft versions above are declared; no earlier or later versions are confirmed. Both client and server must have the mod installed. No dependency on other library mods is mentioned in the project record. ## Modder workflow To use the API, add the Modrinth maven repository and the mod as a dependency in your build file. For Fabric, declare the dependency in fabric.mod.json. For Forge, add an entry in mods.toml with mandatory=true and side=BOTH. Custom bows and crossbows can cast to IProjectileWeapon and call setProjectileDamage and setMaxProjectileVelocity. Fully custom weapon types create a RangedWeaponKind and assign it to each item instance.
