Dynamic Lighting for Accessory Slots
Radiant Gear acts as a simple compatibility bridge connecting accessory frameworks with dynamic lighting mods. Under standard gameplay, dynamic lighting engines only illuminate the environment when a player holds a light source like a torch directly in their main hand or offhand. Installing Radiant Gear allows items equipped in accessory slots to inherit the dynamic lighting behavior defined by your active dynamic lighting engine. As an example, if holding a torch illuminates dark areas, placing that torch into a supported accessory slot will also cause it to emit dynamic light as you move.
Originally known as Curious Lights, the mod is created by TheIllusiveC4 and released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later.
Content and Slot Configuration Requirements
Please note that Radiant Gear doesn't add any standalone content, items, or equipment slots on its own. The mod functions solely as an integration bridge between existing systems. Players who wish to gain additional slots or place specific items into accessory slots must either install separate mods that provide that functionality or configure the slots manually via Curios API configuration or Trinkets API configuration.
Lighting Mod Compatibility and Sidedness
The mod bridges Curios API or Trinkets API with various lighting engines. Look, compatible mods include:
- Dynamic Lights
- Lucent
- Magnesium/Rubidium Dynamic Lights
- Ars Nouveau
- LambDynamicLights
The required sidedness of Radiant Gear depends directly on the specific dynamic lighting mod you choose. For instance, when using Lucent, Radiant Gear is client-side only because Lucent itself operates exclusively on the client side. Conversely, when running Dynamic Lights, Radiant Gear is required on both the client and the server because Dynamic Lights requires both sides.
Platform Support and Issue Reporting
Radiant Gear is classified under Utility & Quality of Life categories, with client side listed as required and server side listed as unsupported in its primary project record. It supports the Forge, Neoforge, and Fabric mod loaders across discrete Minecraft versions: 1.19.3, 1.19.4, 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.4, and 1.20.6.
Bug reports, issues, and feature requests should be submitted to the official issue tracker. For non-technical support and general questions, players can join the developer's Discord.
