Guard Villagers

What the mod does Guard Villagers puts armed defenders into every village. They spawn naturally in groups of six carrying either an iron sword or a crossbow. You can also create your own guards by crouching and right-clicking a nitwit or unemployed villager with a sword or crossbow. Once a guard trusts you (high reputation, Hero of the Village, or you converted them) right-clicking opens an inventory where you can swap weapons, add armor, and give them a shield or food in the off-hand. Shields let guards block attacks. Food or potions are consumed automatically when health drops low. ## Command buttons A patrol button pins a guard to a specific spot. With Hero of the Village active a follow button appears, letting the guard accompany you and fight at your side. Ringing a village bell while you've Hero of the Village summons every guard in range to follow you. ## Villager and golem tweaks Baby villagers now have the large-head look from Bedrock Edition. Clerics heal injured guards, villagers, and Hero of the Village players with regeneration potions up to three times per day. Smiths repair iron golems and guard equipment that has fallen to half durability, also three times daily. Villagers with surplus food share it with nearby guards. Golems float on water instead of getting stuck in rivers and ponds. ## Raid and mob behavior changes All of these are configurable and off by default unless noted. Witches attack villagers (on by default). During raids illagers kill any animal they see (off by default). Villagers and illagers flee from polar bears (on by default). ## Compatibility and requirements The mod runs on Neoforge and Forge. Supported Minecraft versions are 26.2, 1.21.1, and 1.20.1. Both client and server must have the mod installed. No Fabric or Bedrock ports are provided by the author, though the license permits community ports. Datapacks can override the guard equipment tables for modded gear.
