What the mod adds
Origins: Classes is an add-on for the Origins mod. It lets you choose a class after picking an origin. Each class gives a modest perk and does not introduce any negative effects. The idea is to let you fine-tune your playstyle without the risk-reward balance that origins use.
Who might enjoy it
If you already use Origins and want a bit more customization, this mod fits. But it works for players who like the role-playing aspect of origins but want extra tools - like better bows, faster mining, or improved farming - without sacrificing anything.
List of classes and their perks
- Archer - projectiles are more accurate; bow slowdown is reduced.
- Beastmaster - tamed animals gain permanent extra hearts and damage; potion effects also apply to nearby tamed animals.
- Blacksmith - crafted tools and armor give small bonuses; repairs are more efficient in an anvil and via crafting.
- Cleric - potion duration is doubled; enchantments work better.
- Cook - crafted food restores more hunger; cooking in a smoker yields extra XP.
- Explorer - start with nine empty maps, a compass, and a clock; sprinting doesn't cause exhaustion.
- Farmer - bone meal works twice as effectively; crops sometimes drop double loot.
- Lumberjack - crafting planks from logs gives two extra planks; an axe can fell an entire tree in one swing.
- Merchant - villager trades never run out; wandering traders offer special deals.
- Miner - stone blocks break faster; mining does not cause exhaustion.
- Nitwit - provides no special benefits, a neutral choice.
- Rancher - breeding animals can produce twins; killed animals may drop double loot.
- Rogue - name is hidden through walls; after sneaking for ten seconds you enter stealth, dealing double damage from behind.
- Warrior - each weapon deals +1 attack damage; shields slow you less.
Compatibility
The mod requires both client and server sides to have it installed. But it runs on Fabric and Quilt loaders. Officially supported Minecraft versions are 1.20.1, 1.20, 1.19.4, 1.19.3, 1.19.1, 1.19, 1.18.2, 1.18, 1.17.1, and 1.17. No other versions are listed as supported.
Extending the mod
You can add custom classes via datapacks. Look, by creating a new origin and adding it to data/origins-classes/origin_layers/class.json, you can define your own perks.
When to use it
Use this add-on when you want extra specialization beyond what origins provide, but you don’t want the trade-offs that come with most origins. So it works best on servers that already run the Origins mod and use Fabric or Quilt.
Limitations
The mod doesn't replace origins; you still need to select an origin first. It also doesn't claim any performance improvements or compatibility beyond the listed loaders and Minecraft versions.
