HT's TreeChop

de hammertater

HT's TreeChop replaces block-by-block tree cutting with a chop system: break one log repeatedly and the whole tree falls, scaled to its size.

O que este projeto faz

What it does

HT's TreeChop changes how you cut down trees in Minecraft. Instead of breaking every log block one at a time, you break a single block on the tree repeatedly and the whole thing comes down after a set number of hits. Bigger trees need more total chops, but each individual chop counts for less per block, so the effort doesn't scale one-to-one with tree size. You don't need an axe to chop, though skipping one slows you down.

Who it suits

If you build a lot, run a server with wood-heavy builds, or just get tired of clicking through every log in a big oak, this is aimed at you. It also fits multiplayer setups where several players can chip away at the same tree together, since any block broken on that tree counts toward felling it.

Key features

The chop count is computed by a formula rather than fixed per tree. By default it uses a logarithmic curve, so large trees don't demand a chop for every single block, they demand proportionally fewer as the tree grows. The mod's own config file lets you switch that curve to a linear one instead, where you set how many chops each block is worth and whether a whole tree can need more chops than it has blocks.

Chopping works on mushroom and fungus blocks as well as ordinary trees, and the mod tries to break leaves in a way that clears them along with the trunk rather than leaving a stripped stem behind. It's built to work with most modded trees too, not just vanilla ones.

You get an in-game settings screen, opened with n by default, to turn chopping on or off, and a separate keybind to flip it without opening the menu. Honestly, sneaking while breaking a log breaks it normally instead of triggering a chop, and that inversion itself can be flipped in settings. There's also a toggle that stops chopping on blocks not connected to leaves, which is meant to keep the mod from eating your house.

Compatibility

TreeChop supports Fabric, NeoForge, and Forge, on Minecraft 1.19.2, 1.20.1, 1.21, and 1.21.1.

The mod has specific integrations documented for other mods: in 1.18.2, Tinker's Construct broad axes and axes with "expanded" upgrades perform extra chops. From 1.18.2 onward, Silent Gear saws perform extra chops, Project MMO grants woodcutting XP for chopping, and Jade, WTHIT, and TheOneProbe display the number of log blocks in a tree and the chops still needed to fell it.

One known issue: some modded trees can leave floating blocks behind after being felled. There was also a documented conflict with Multi Mine on 1.18.2 and earlier, which the project says should be resolved on 1.19 and later.

Requirements

Both the client and the server need the mod installed. It's released under the MIT License.
