de chadlymasterson

PlayerXP is a server-side Cobblemon add-on that awards players XP or levels whenever their Pokemon win battles, giving trainers a reason to fight without relying on mob grinding.

Ce face acest proiect

What It Does

Cobblemon: PlayerXP is an add-on for the Cobblemon mod that gives the player, not just their Pokemon, something to gain from battling. Every time a fight ends in an XP reward for your Pokemon, you get a share too, either as raw experience points or as flat levels, depending on how the server has it set up.

Why It Exists

In a Cobblemon world where mob spawns are turned off, players run out of ways to level up outside of battles. Real talk, villagers are the only other real source of XP in that setup, and that gets thin fast. PlayerXP gives server owners another lever to pull so players still have a reason to fight instead of just trading with villagers all day.

Who It's For

This fits Cobblemon server owners who want battling to matter for the player account, not just the Pokemon team. It suits servers running without natural mob spawns, and any server that wants a small extra incentive tied to trainer battles.

Configuration

Everything lives in one file, config/playerxp/playerxp.json. Server owners can decide whether the reward comes as raw XP or as full levels with shouldGiveLevels, set how much XP is handed out per Pokemon level gained with baseXP, and set how many levels the player receives per Pokemon level when level mode is on, with baseLevels.

The mod's GitHub repository lists a longer set of options beyond those three: a daily cap toggle, separate daily caps for XP and for levels, and a switch for whether trainer battles count toward the reward at all. Those extra settings aren't confirmed on the project's Modrinth listing, so treat the three core options above as the guaranteed baseline, and the daily cap and trainer-battle toggle as documented in the mod's own repository.

Compatibility

PlayerXP needs Cobblemon installed to function, since it hooks into Cobblemon's own battle and leveling system. It runs on the NeoForge and Fabric loaders, and Fabric installs also need Fabric Loader and Fabric API alongside it.

On the Minecraft version side, the project lists support for 1.21.1, 1.21.2, 1.21.3, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.10, and 1.21.11. It's marked as a server-side requirement with client side unsupported, meaning it doesn't need to be installed on the client to work, only on the server itself.

License

PlayerXP is released under the MIT License, so the source is open for anyone to read or adapt within that license's terms.
