Future MC brings features from newer updates back to Minecraft 1.12.2. The author thedarkcolour created this Java mod to import select blocks, items, creatures, and mechanics from updates 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, and 1.16 into older worlds.
Blocks, items, and mobs
You get several building options and natural features from later editions. Lanterns can hang from ceilings or sit on ground surfaces, and you can attach them to chains. Bells hang from walls and ceilings or rest on floors, and you can ring them. The mod includes twelve stone wall variants, distinct wooden trapdoors for each wood type, and stripped log variants you can strip with an axe.
Plant life and mobs also arrive from later patches. Bamboo grows tall in your world, serves as furnace fuel, and crafts into sticks. Pandas spawn in jungle biomes and eat bamboo. Berry bushes generate across taiga biomes with four growth stages, letting you harvest sweet berries. Lily of the valley, wither rose, and cornflower craft into white, black, and blue dyes.
Bodies of water gain cod, salmon, pufferfish, and tropical fish. Bees dwell in wild bee nests that generate on trees or when saplings grow near flowers. You can build beehives, collect honey bottles to clear poison effects, and craft honey blocks that don't stick to slime blocks. Anyone can also harvest honeycombs and nests using shears, bottles, or dispensers.
Tools, combat, and storage
For combat, you can find the trident. Elder Guardians drop this throwable weapon, and it accepts loyalty, channeling, and impaling enchantments. The item doesn't have a 3D model yet. You can also play the Pigstep music disc in a jukebox.
Storage and food gain new options. Barrels store items like chests but still open inside tight spaces. Suspicious stew grants potion effects when eaten, and you craft it using vanilla flowers.
Processing and utility blocks
Several specialized workstations update your crafting and smelting setups. Grindstones repair items and remove enchantments. Stonecutters convert stone blocks into related variants, and looms let you design custom banner patterns. Composters turn organic items into bonemeal.
Smokers and blast furnaces process specific items twice as fast as regular furnaces while saving fuel. Campfires cook up to four food items at a time, emit signal smoke, and give off light. Stonecutters, smokers, blast furnaces, campfires, and composters include CraftTweaker integration. Here's the thing, the processing blocks also connect with JEI.
Technical details
Future MC runs on the Forge mod loader for Minecraft 1.12.2. It's marked as required on both the client and the server. The mod carries an All Rights Reserved license.
